I'd certainly welcome patches -- e.g., PowerCenter/BottleRocket only
supports Insteon because of Greg Brown's work.

Has anyone looked at adding Z-Wave support to this plugin?

Not good practice, maybe, but did the trick. My effort to add
Squeezecenter as a user to dialout did not.
Thanks so much.

Not that this is good practice, but I open up ttyS0 to all comers in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local:
# Make ttyS0 writeable for bottlerocket br command
chmod a+rw /dev/ttyS0

Here is the br that I use:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 16728 2006-01-11 22:24 br
I have a crontab that also executes command to that firecracker, but
that runs as an ordinary user (who is member of dialout).
Unfortunately we are at (beyond) the edge of my linux knowledge.

Eric, have you installed 'br' as a suid binary perchance?
Here's the relevant Perl code:
Code:
if ( ((! -e $port) || (! -w $port)) && ($^O =~ /linux/i) ) {
On my Ubuntu system this seems to work fine -- running just this
snippet of Perl, /dev/ttyS
Just upgraded to 7.0 (SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17564 - Debian - EN

Interesting problem...turning X10 devices off and on, dimming, etc.
works, but turning on and off devices in sync with the player does
not.

Hey Peter-
Just upgraded to your new version with the action popups... This time
I get to use your code... for Sirius channel changes.
Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm baffled by that, too. Running SVN trunk
(not at 17002) and the latest SBC firmware, I'm not getting any such
warnings for any of the X-10 actions. :-/
Are you seeing the Jive popups at the bottom of the SBC/JHB screen when
you ask it to send a code?

I just kicked the tires on this using the jive hardware beta. Very
cool, and very nicely thought out. I have a 1950's era Walton
humidifier that's the size of a small fridge that is now completely
under BottleRocket's control.
I am seeing some warnings in the log:
Code:
Tonight I posted an updated alpha with improved Controller/Jive UI. It
now uses the standard Jive pop-up mechanism to give feedback when you
send a command to an X10 or Insteon device with a Squeezebox
Controller.

This is very cool Peter, excellent work :)
I don't have any use for it, but the Jive system being extended in this
way increases its value tremendously.

Logitech has sent some Jive Hardware Betas to a number of developers
and community members. See this thread:

Hi,
I keep reading about Jive - but is there actually any hardware
available yet to run it? (other than an emulator in an SDK?)

I've just posted a new SqueezeCenter 7 version of BottleRocket that
has rudimentary Jive support: it will list the "other" devices and
allow you to turn them on or off (using menu choices or pressing "+"
for off or Play for on while on a device line or looking at a screen
