You were correct! realmplayer.sh lacked the execution flag. It's working
now.

I have a vague recollection that the mplayer.sh shell scripts has
problems running on gentoo.
I can't remember the exact problem but the usual Linxu distro issues
include:
- permissions and ownership of mplayer.sh gets altered during
installation - it should be owned by same owner as rest of plug

Plug-In tab and enabling PlayReal (with AlienBBC disabled).
