Well, I added those lines to the file location noted by the new .conf
file, but no change. I'm getting a "cannot connect to" and long URL
name. All is fine on the Squeezeboxes, however.

You need the transcoding support on the server as WMA transcoding is not
included in the Linux distribution. wmadec is included in the Windows
installation.
You will need to modify/add to the slimserver-convert.conf file (or
custom-convert.conf) - put the file in the same directory as
convert.con
I checked out that link but it appears out of date since things were
reorganized...cant find any of the files in the locations noted.

SqueezeCenter is on Linux, and the Clients are PCs. Do you mean that I
need transcoding on the client PCs or the server? I think I already
have all that on the server...

Softsqueeze doesn't support WMA and it looks like you are using a Non
Windows OS so you will need to add WMA transcoding support onto your
system - see

I have now found that Sirius plays fine on my SqueezeBoxes, but not on
SoftSqueeze. I get a "cannot connect to" and some long URL error.

I installed the Sirius plusin for v7, but I dont hear any audio. Some
relevant entries in the squeezecenter log are below. Does this give
anyone a hint...some sort of transcoding problem? Do I need to install
something else?
