Just a couple of guesses. First, maybe the default application for .jnlp files is not right in Firefox. I've seen where it wants to open with the java executable, and I think it should use javaws. Second, I don't know about Kubuntu, but with Fedora the default java packages are the "open" ones,

Hi, I use firefox and kubuntu and i have always had problems with softsqueeze. usually the damn thing appears to load, but then crashes. Tonight i decided to right click the download and instead of saving to the desktop i saved the jnpl file to a softsqueeze folder that i had previously created a
