IIRC to enable wma over http port 80 as well as mms - the operator only
needs to tick a check box - the usual nudge to operators is tell them
they lose workplace listeners wi

The following URL for yle live Radio Suomi works in ffmpeg
mmsh://mediau.yle.fi/liveradiosuomi
You can google to find out exactly what protocol "mmsh://" but it is
some sort of hybrid - why MS keeps inventing weird stuff is beyond me.

Hmmm. I need to look into this a bit more then. When you listen on the
website it's obviously not WMA in the flash player, so other streams do
exist, and probably the same for when listening though Yle Areena app. I
would guess that they are AAC. If those URLs are directly accessible or
not I don'

YLE mms services are not the old fashioned wma over mms oon port 1755
but wma over http on port 80 (which is supported by ffmpeg ).

Someone should write them a letter . they probably have a mobile app and
forgot all about regular internet radio listeners .
You can always tease them with that SR doe

Firstly, my apologies for digging up such an old thread, however, I
found myself coming across this thread while trying to resolve the same
problem all these years later. When trying to play Yle (Finland) streams
on my old SLiMP3 which are mms:// wma (at least when you browse using
LMS) my server

1. Get an older version of mplayer than the one delivered by the
repository for 10.10.
2. Long time startup is just because mplayer fills its cache (IIRC
about 128k) before starting to send audio into SBS so if you are
playing a 32kbps stream it is a long time to start compared to a
320kbps strea
Hi
I have the excact same issue here with Ubuntu Server 10.10 and 100% CPU
on wma transcoding.
which solution did you go for?
- Also, my wma streams take a lng time to buffer before start
playing. Some 15-20 seconds. Could this be a related issue?

I used to build my own version and not use the repository but recent
versions have been OK except for zombie mplayer processes with the
version in 10.04 but the v

Hi bpa,
Thank you very mu
So it is just the mplayer version has changed ? or did SBS change as
well ?
Some builds of mplayer had problems with the buffer filling threads
they start.
Have you tried the old version of mplayer ?

What sort of player are you using ? SliMP3, SB1, soft player ?
What has changed since it used to work ?
The 100% CPU may be caused by either mplayer waiting to be able to
deliver data to SBS so something may be blocking it.

Update:
Playing the same url on SBS showed same 100% cpu usage for mplayer.
Playing the same url on mplayer directly only use 2-4% cpu
Same th
Try playing the same URL on your SBS system.
What sort of player are you using ?
If it is a soft player is it on the same PC ?

It like you have some sort of system config or perhaps mplayer/atom
issue because same version of mplayer works ok on my Ubuntu 10.10
Try adding a "-v" to get more diagnostics

Hi bpa, thanks
Have you checked that your version of mplayer can play WMA stream and is
not a GUI version. Try the following command at a shell prompt
Code:
mplayer -cache 64 http://somafm.com/wma/illstreet.asx

I searched in the forum and the web but can't find any fix to this.
Hope people here could help.
I am running latest sbs 7.6 on Ubuntu 10.10 (on a Atom based box). I
use the "Play Windows Media" and "Play Real" plugin for transcoding.
However, during transcoding, mplayer is showing 100% cpu us
