I know, but the issue is I don't want to use softsqueeze!
This squeezeslave sounds good although I can't get it working either
over the Internet, having forwarded ports etc. Not sure if it's meant
for that.

I'm not clear on what behavior of Softsqueeze you're having trouble
with. You don't have to go back to the app to tell it to start playing
again. You have full control via the web

Well that's the output message I get... right up there copied

on a different network eg.192.168.20.101 on the wan side of an SME
