When I build Mplayer I do not have a GUI enabled. To see if I could reproduce i tried to build and I cannot get it to complete (SUse 9.3). For AlienBBC you do not need the GUI interface and I think it may be best it is not included. Also there is no need for any additional codecs as the RealAudio

The sound card will be ignored since you are outputting to a file /dev/fd/3 with the -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=dev/fd/3. It may be significant when mplayer is run from a command line. Other mplayer users had this problem a few years ago but it hasn't been reported recently so that is why I think
