Although this thread is expired, I thought i'd add this for anyone else
trying to re configure their Squeezebox setup after 5 years and getting
stuck like I did.
If you are using a Facebook account with Spotify, the Triode plugin
should be configured with your email address and FACEBOOK password,
Are the helper app in triodes plugin allowed trough the firewall ?

Hi,
I have a Boom and a german spotify premium account. i have installed
the triode spotify-Plugin but it does not work. In the settings-menu i
always get the following:
Helper App: Running
Not logged in to Spotify
Login Error: Bad username and/or password
Last Error: No error
