mplayer.sh is part of AlienBBC - it is in the Plugins/Alien/Bin
directory. Check that is executable and owned by the same owner as
rest of Plugin. This should be the case when using Extension
Downloader but a check is worthwhile.

Did you use Extension Downloader to install AlienBBC ?
If yes, then it sounds like mplayer is not installed or mplayer.sh is
not executable by the SC user.

I just updated to SC 7.3.2 (w/module for Thecus 5200pro NAS). Installed
Alien BBC. The menus w/schedules and programming appear, but when I
select a show and hit play, the screen gets this message:"unable to
play this type of file" (or words to that effect).
Any idea what I have done wrong and h

I copied the wrong conf file in the previous post but the issue about
the text in red is still correct.
When you patch files - you patch the changes and leave additions
/deletions alone.
In this case - take the custom-convert.conf of the installed AlienBBC
as the basis and just change the mplaye

The custom-convert.conf filelooks like it is missing all the new conf
directives associated with erach conversion.
Example below - the addiotnal line is in red
Code:
rtsp wav * *
# R
[mplayer] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -bandwidth 1000 -cache 128 -

By the look of things the patch required is simply the change to the
custom-convert.conf file as detailed below, which I've already done?
The patches are all because of Freenas limitations compared to Linux.
Some NAS with similar limitations have to apply similar patches.

Right, found that cheers. Still no joy th
If you installed Alien via Extension Downloader then it will be in
different location ~/cache/Installed Plugins/Plugins/Alien - you can
see where by looking at the settings information page to see where
plugins are installed.

I'm getting this now too, no sound at all.
Its on FreeNas, squeezecenter 7.3.2.
I installed it, it showed in the plugins, then shutdown sc, removed the
contents of the alienBBC folder. Ticked the option for updates on
Extension Downloader and applied. Restarted sc, checked sc plugins and

Thanks BPA
I think I have solved the problem.
I installed LAME in server-bin-MS32-x86-multi-thread instead of
directly into server-bin
Then I changed the RTSP files to MP3 disabled and enabled lame/flac.
Now the Alienbbc audio works fine, and I still have LAME at 320.

I run Windows XP on a dedicated to Squeezeserver HP laptop.
I did not have LAME installed on SC 7.2 but Alien worked fine.
Now I have SC 7.3 and installed LAME the I have disabled Flac on RTSP.
The LAME bitrate is set to 320
I use Kaspersky security.
I rebooted.
I have tried removing the LAME fi
