Since the version 1.1.0 you can use 'categories' to display layers/groups together in pmapper under a common thematic category. But you don't have a checkbox for the categories.
The layers and groups are defined in the standard Mapserver way, so you can group layers together that are just displayed as a single one in the table of contents/legend. You should use different names for layers belonging to the same group. What you mentioned as "If more than one layer..." is just inportant for the description, that is what the user sees in the application, it is *not* the layer name as defined in the map file. something that looks like + Category 1 [x] Group/Layer 1 [x] Group/Layer 2 + Category 2 [x] Group/Layer 3 [x] Group/Layer 4 The layers/groups are set in the map file, the categories are defined in custom.php.
