why don't you just replace the original images with yours keeping the names.
Would not need any code modifications.

Dear Armin,
I would like to replace in the toc the image plus/minus.gif with
folder/folderopen.gif. I have tried modifying the toc.js, the folder appear,
but the links (joinbottom,line.gif) they don't appear.
How can I do?
