Since its inception, PmWiki has used iso-8859-1 (aka 'Latin-1')
as its default character set. There are a variety of reasons for
this, but the primary reason has been that PHP and its associated
libraries have not had sufficient support for utf8 to work well.
However, that's no longer the case, a
SiteAdmin.AuthList does not display anything on my site. I found that
it is because I have the following setting in my config.
$SearchPatterns['default'][] = '!\.Group(Print)?(Header|Footer|Attributes)$!';
My question is: shouldn't the AuthList code ignore $SearchPatterns?

I'm using FTP with FileZilla which being solid and reliable,
open-source, and running on any machine (both Unix and Windows) is
most probably a good "standard".
I would even dare say "the" standard [1].
