I made further tests to use a variable in a $[ ] I18n variable.

$[{(substr {*$Trail} 9 7)}] shows data of substring, doesn't evaluate substr.
$[(:if true:){(substr {*$Trail} 9 7)}(:ifend:)] - doesn evaluate
