Hi All, Soon we'll be releasing POI 1.5. Our first production release from Jakarta. To me the most important bug is this dependency on the Logging APIs. So I think its up to you, the POI users to make sure this works before release. Generally its user feedback that find these kinds of bugs.
The best thing to do to help out is check POI out from CVS, build the distribution target (type "./build.sh" or "build.bat") and try using your favorite logger. If it doesn't work either report back here or post a bug report into "bugzilla". We're working to get POI back on a nightly build schedule, but its a race between that and 1.5.
