Mystery over the robbery to the US first daughter in Buenos Aires
A thieve stole Barbara Bush her purse and cell phone while dining in the
Argentine Capital.

"No comments", told the press the US Secret Service, the White House, the
Argentine Government and the Buenos Aires police, after the ABC News reported
on the robbery to the US first daughter, Barbara Bush, in a Buenos Aires
restaurant. The US Embassy to Buenos Aires, promised to release an statement,
but later told journalists that all information would be given from Washington.

According to reports, Barbara Bush was in Buenos Aires, in a secret mission
after her twin sister, Jenna visited neighbor Paraguay working as an intern for
UNICEF. The activities of the 24-year-old ladies were kept under secret by the
US authorities.

However, the US Secret Service was guarding Barbara when she was robbed, but
failed to act, apparently, because she was not with her belongings at the time
they were stolen, again apparently, from her table in a restaurant. What
reports confirmed is that Barbara was spending her first night in town and went
to the picturesque neighborhood of San Telmo, as all tourist do in Buenos
Aires, for dinner.

Local media sources confirmed that Barbara and Jenna are in Buenos Aires as
part of a 20 days tour that may have taken them to Panama and Paraguay before
arriving in Argentina.

Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo is overcrowded by tourists that walk down
its streets looking for antiques or just bars where they can attend to tango
shows. Once an area for the elite of the colonial Buenos Aires, it became a
center for the local bohemia and lately a good place for thieves looking for
distracted tourists whether they are protected by the secret service or not.
