need help porting ruby-snmp

am trying to create a port for ruby-snmp. ( http://flyingwalrus.net/misc/ruby-snmp.tgz ) have copied the Makefile from a working port, and have tried to follow the porters checklist page. when I make install, nothing gets installed. the package consists of only +CONTENTS and +DESCR files.
