I understand the workaround now. By default GIMP uses the "Dark" theme /usr/local/share/gimp/2.0/themes/Dark Menu -> Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Theme Select "System" /usr/local/share/gimp/2.0/themes/System That resolves the crash for me. Thanks.
