Is there a standard procedure for porting emacs-lisp packages? I don't see much mention of them in the archives. The porting checklist says to put info files in /usr/local/info, but does not mention emacs-lisp files. /usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp/ seems like the right place for elisp files from ports. Rather than updating /usr/local/info/dir to reflect new info files, a pkg/MESSAGE suggesting the port installer modify the dir themselves seems best. Any other considerations?
I am working on ports of a couple elisp programs, such a far newer version of MH-E. The version currently bundled with GNU Emacs is incompatible with the nmh version in the ports tree. Would flavors to install for GNU Emacs / XEmacs (when the currently-ported XEmacs doesn't already have a relatively new version) be good? Scott
