Has anyone looked at my Hello post? I found a video

I rec'd a 540C a few weeks ago and did a very bad thing: I didn't
check it for viruses. In all my years of Macs, I've never had one.
This thing has had the MDEF-B virus since 1996 apparently. It was
kind enough to share it with my G4 and PM6500. I've got the G4
cleaned but the 6500 is really
The 8.6 CD I have has got both an updater and a full installer on it. Running Norton
and TechTools is a good idea though as it's always nice to install on a HD that is
known good.

Excuse me, but I thought the 8.6 disk was not a full

Anyway, if I were you I would run Norton or Techtool
on the 3400 c, either
from CD or from in disk mode via SCSI form a desktop

I'm new to this list. I have a PB 1400c, 133mhz, 48 mb, 1.2 g, OS 8.6. I
would like to do some upgrades to this machine. Like (I assume) most 1400
owners, memory is a problem. I know I can upgrade to a max of 64 mb internal
physical memory. Replacing with the right stuff, though, is hard to

My CD does indeed have a full restore option as well
as a patch option as Tom pointed out earlier.
It was also definately a bad hard drive... I hadn't
taken it out until now. I knew the drive was bad as
soon as I removed it from the case. In all my years
of working with laptop hard drives
Ed,
Is your last SCSI device (presumably the CD-ROM) terminated? I don't know
about this specific issue, but SCSI chains should have a terminator at the
end.
Good luck,

I came in late to this thread. I have 2 Video/ethernet cards for the 5300
and 1 video only card for the 5300. All are New In Box and are made by
Focus. If anyone's interested contact me off list, I'm in digest mode.

First Sionnach, I wouldn't panic. My own (maybe ignorant) theory is that
the 3400's ROM is written in such a way that it is very allergic or
intolerant of certain problems that creep into
Hi,
Just thought I would relate my experiences with Apple regarding REA on my
5300CE:
1st trip. motherboard crapped out after 1 day. they removed my memory chip
and said it was 3rd party and faulty (it's an apple chip and has worked just
fine for years!).
2nd trip: contrast control messed up.
I know I've seen these somewhere here before, but can someone tell me where
to find take-apart diagrams for a 1400?
Should be in the Apple Service Manual for that unit. Try here for a whole
spitload of 'em.
