I have been given a Powerbook 5300cs with a problem. The screen sometimes is
fine, but mostly there are big blocks or stripes or other gargage all over
the screen. None of this shows up on an external monitor. Two questions
1. Is it the screen itself or something that drives just the screen?
2.
I remember that these items came on upgraded/refurbished 500 series
computers in order to get larger (and cheaper) IDE drives in them. As I
recall, they were very hard to get unless it came with a hard drive.

I'm at a loss to find the link for the distributor though. Digging
for it now - although I do recall that they weren't cheap. $300+ for
a 10 gig drive that will go in any SCSI PowerBook.
