I have a 5300c, and have run 7.6.1, 8.1, and 8.6 on it. 7.6.1 can feel
quite slow, and I think that it's due to Apple's poor emulation of
non-power PC code. I purchased Connectix SpeedDoubler and it completely
changed the way 7.6.1 felt; it was MUCH faster in opening windows and

Anybody have an opinion for what the best TV tuner for a 7600 or 9600 PCI
based Mac would be?
I've got an iXMicro TV Tuner that works ok, but not great. I think
that virtually all the PCI card based TV tuners out there for Macs
are based on the same hardware, just rebranded (or slightly
Golly, I did it again.
My apologies to the list - I sent another message destined for the
PCI-PowerMacs list to PowerBooks! I'm going to go fix my address
book now.
Peace,

Actually I'm running 9.2.2 on my 3400c 240mhz ram maxed out and it's
quite a bit zippier than 8.6 or 9.1. The finder is much, much faster.
I would recommend at least trying 9.2.2 if you can.

I have been unsuccessfully trying for 3 days to charge up a brand new
shrink-wrapped BTI battery for my 540c.
I thought I was successful tonight. I unplugged the PB (after it was plugged
in all night and all afternoon) and hit the power key to boot it. It booted
fine and after one minute it
Hello, all.
I have a (now antiquated) Farallon SkyLINE Wireless PC Card (PCMCIA, 2Mb/s)
that I am trying to get to work in my PowerBook 1400. I installed the
proper software, and am having difficulties. The card works fine in my

I did try 9.2.2.. and yeah it was quite fast finder response was
excellent in 9.2.2, better than all of the other 9s.
It was very RAM hungry though, and crashed alot especially with PCMCIA
cards installed.
I made a whole page about it, and other fairly neat stuff I've done with
my 3400c
Could someone send me the disk image for Install Disk 1 for 7.6. All
the other disks check out fine. Thanks very much.

Try asking on the OSX list if there is one or G-List
Now that I think about it I'm pretty sure a second company has announced
a PC emulator for Macs, that is G5 compatible, and isn't Microsoft,
fairly recently.
