A friend found an OS8 non-G3 CD.
But the CD refused to appear on the desktop.
I put the CD in the Wallstreet and using the 3Com 3C589 card, did the
install over Appleshare. The installer first demanded an updated
Appleshare but otherwise went smoothly.
Once OS8 was running, I used Apple System

Re-followed Asante's caveats and recommendations
regarding the very problem Clark mentioned. They list
several extensions that are incompatible.
Voila. Everything works good now.
Now, I'm off to my 3400 to work
