I too had a mirriad of problems when I installed OS 9 onto my powerbook 3400. I went back to OS 8.6 and has never had any problems since, that was three years ago. Perhaps the best bet is the 9.0.4 universal installer, which will easily go on a 3400. The only reason I can see for 8.6 on a 3400

Hi, sounds bad. When i leave my 3400c for a week or so it chimes but doesnt boot. When i leave it for a hour with AC plugged in, it comes up fine. Its just a guess, but i think its has something to to with the PRAM battery which is also recharchable. The PRAM battery is connected to the
