Yes...changes in the tone, volume and duration are the determining factors.
From my own experiences
Western Digital drives have to be the noisiest.
Seagates are somewhere in between.
Maxtors I think are the best.
But I will tell you this...next time you have an old drive your not

Some model Hitachi and IBM drives are definitely known to be noisier, you
will see frequent disclaimers that clicking noises from them are normal.

Why not get a 32MB module? Easy to replace, and well worth it.

I did get Lind Battery. It didn't help anymore than EMMPathy did.
