My PowerBook has System 7.5.5 installed. Yesterday I used the 7.5.3
custom uninstall to remove Apple CD Audio Player. I've uninstalled
individual components before with no trouble, but this time was
different. I clicked quit to exit the installer when it was done, and
it sat for a few minutes, and

So does that mean that web browser history caching, etc. is also drawing down
write cycles on a CF card?

yah, but those are going to write less than VM would.

OK, I decided to turn off Virtual Memory. I notice the System and apps
are drawing more resources (particularly the System which has jumped
by almost 10MB with most of my apps open). snip What likely
