Re: Powerbook 5300 boot order

2005-10-26 Thread Christopher Gleeson
It was written I would get a CD - internal or external - and boot the machine from the Linux CD that way, (if the Linux CD will do that)... FYI, I don't believe that there was ever an internal CD-ROM built for the PB5300. You'd have to use an external SCSI unit. That's what

Don't worry! Have no fear! This little Powerbook is not on its way to the landfill! Sorry if I gave that impression. I have contacted a local Apple retailer, and I'll be going in tomorrow to test out the power brick theory. It should take all of 20 seconds! If it needs re-soldering, I'll

Well, it's either the power brick or the solder on the AC connection. When I remove the battery, and plug it in, then press the reset button, absolutely nothing happens. Looks like this little beauty will be going to the great computer resting place in the sky! Thanks for the suggestions to

PB1400c won't start

2005-04-03 Thread Christopher Gleeson
Greetings, listers. I have a PB1400c. It was working fine, when a low battery warning message appeared. At this point, it was plugged in, and running on AC. A few minutes later, the unit just shut down. I have tried restarting, even while using the reset button on the back. When I press

Battery Recondition

2004-12-11 Thread Christopher Gleeson
I was running Battery Recondition on my PB5300c, when suddenly, the screen went dark and a noise like static came from the speaker. I had to remove the battery in order to restart the computer. When I tried to run Battery Recondition again, the same thing happened. I ran it earlier on a

I partitioned my hard drive on my PB5300c into two sections. I turned VM on and, with 32 Meg of RAM, I'm running 8.6 with no problem. More real RAM is better, no question, but, sometimes ya gotta go with what ya have! It's a little slow when surfing, but when used for WP or spreadsheets,
