I would get a CD - internal or external - and boot the machine from

Linux CD that way, (if the Linux CD will do that)...
FYI, I don't believe that there was ever an internal CD-ROM built for
the PB5300. You'd have to use an external SCSI unit. That's what
Don't worry! Have no fear! This little Powerbook is not on its way
to the landfill! Sorry if I gave that impression.
I have contacted a local Apple retailer, and I'll be going in
tomorrow to test out the power brick theory. It should take all of
20 seconds! If it needs re-soldering, I'll
Well, it's either the power brick or the solder on the AC connection.
When I remove the battery, and plug it in, then press the reset
button, absolutely nothing happens. Looks like this little beauty
will be going to the great computer resting place in the sky!
Thanks for the suggestions to
Greetings, listers.
I have a PB1400c. It was working fine, when a low battery warning
message appeared. At this point, it was plugged in, and running on
AC. A few minutes later, the unit just shut down. I have tried
restarting, even while using the reset button on the back. When I

I have a spare 750 Meg HD that came with my PB5300c when I bought it

install it in an external case, or in something I can use in the
expansion bay. It would be nice to have the extra capacity at my

Thanks for the responses. The card is a 28.8 PCMCIA modem card.

I went back into Zterm and it said my software version was 1.300. I
then recalled something I saw on the Global Village ftp site. It was
