I have OS 9.1 on my 3400 and it's fine. It's been very stable. Check
your apps and make sure you're not going to break anything going to OS 9
but otherwise you might as well.
I would reformat using Extended since you're right there anyway.
but it will be slower - not much - but it depends on
slower than OS 8.6
If I do decide to initialize and go to 9, should
I reformat as standard Apple partition or go to
the extended format?

be easy - just find
an adapter that converts the DB-9 cable to DIN-9
to fit the serial port on the back of the Powerbook,
and find a CDMA driver.
Am I on the right track, it is it a bit more
involved than that?
