Could you share those instructions with me? I have the Apple Service
manual (at least the one that has the take-apart instructions, can't
rember if that is the service manual or not), however it isn't really
specific about the handling of the LCD panel. The irony of the
situation is that
I was afraid of that. I know where to get a new back panel, just
afraid that once I get the unit replaced, the LCD won't work. I am not
usually this "squeamish" about doing computer surgeries, but for some
reason this one just didn't work.

Hi all,
I've just bought the back panel for a PowerBook 540c. The hinges no
longer attached to the back of the old plastic panel. After swapping
out the LCD and the two circuit boards and placing them in the new
back panel, the LCD stays dark. The backlight comes on, but the
display stays blank. A
