Hi

I'm new on the list (lurking for a few weeks), having just switched from
using Duos for years to a 5300. The expansion capabilities of the 5300 are
fun.

re: booting from CF on a 5300-
what kind of speed improvement do you find, if any?
What about speed just using CF for virtual memory?
I'm weighing if it is worth setting up CF for my 5300. My 5300 has 48 mb of
ram, and is agonizingly slow with either virtual memory or ram doubler, but
not enough free ram to open some programs simultaneously. So virtual memory
on a CF card might work well if it is just slightly slower than RAM itself.

Second, I have a vst internal zip drive which works great, except if the
computer is put to sleep when there is no zip disk in the drive, when
reawakened it will not recognize the drive. I searched on the web and found
no mention of this problem. OS is 8.6 and iomega drivers came with the
drive. Its no big deal, I just try to leave a zip disk in. Occasionally it
is annoying.

Thanks for any thoughts! Dan
