HI, I am seting up a powerbook 5300 to use a GV 56k pcmcia modem and a Stylewriter 2500 printer. It had been working well with neither connected. For the last two days I get the chimes when I try to start up with both devices connected and the first time I got the sad Mac face. It then shows a blank screen. When I insert the Disk Tools floppy and force it to start by pressing the Control, Command and Power keys, it starts. I then run Disk First Aid from the floppy and it finds no problem when it verifies the hard disk. Is there a secret to starting with the pcmcia modem in or out, or the Stylewriter printer on or off? Or do I wait for the wind to blow in a certain direction for guaranteed start up? Thanks for any help offered.
