I have a powerbook 5300cs with a passive matrix screen and have tried to upgrade it with an active matrix screen. After putting on the new screen, the lines on the dialogue boxes, etc. seemed to shimmer, so I removed the active matrix screen. I believed that the effect was caused by a damaged cable and have been trying to find another Hosiden brand cable. However, after reading a posting to this group recently, I wondered if the shimmer might be caused by setting the screen display to thousands of colors insteadof 256 colors. Does anyone think that that might be the problem based on the components of the cs machine instead of the c?
