I have to do it on floppies as I cannot make the external cd I have work
with it and can't get it to recognize files correctly in order to do it. I

With the video /ethernet card.
There should be a dongle that attaches to the rear next to the scsi port if
the connector fits into the book then chances are it is just a monitor
connector.
But if the connector sits out and clips on with hooks at either end chances

I had a similar problem a couple weeks ago. The only way I could get
the system on my
greyscale 5300 was to use the external cd hooked up via scsi cable.
What's the beef with your cd?
I don't think you're going to get there with pc floppies.

As I understand from the recommendations, 8.1 is about the optimum OS for a
5300. What are you trying to upgrade to. On downloads, you might have to
find another mac user so that the disk is "bootable" from mac standards. I
have had this problem if not using toast when creating a cd for my ma

I'm going to suggest that you pick up another scsi device to work with
here.
either another cd (one that works) or maybe a syquest drive.
