Hi With the video /ethernet card. There should be a dongle that attaches to the rear next to the scsi port if the connector fits into the book then chances are it is just a monitor connector. But if the connector sits out and clips on with hooks at either end chances are you just need to find t

Wow, I had a similar problem a couple weeks ago. The only way I could get the system on my greyscale 5300 was to use the external cd hooked up via scsi cable. What's the beef with your cd? I don't think you're going to get there with pc floppies. see ya, jim o On Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at 0

OK, let's back up a bit to make sure we're not missing a point here. You've got the 5300cs with no system right now? or do you have system 8 on there still? When you try to boot from the CD you get what? does the drive spin-up? You are holding down the "c" key to boot from the CD? You have terminat

As I understand from the recommendations, 8.1 is about the optimum OS for a 5300. What are you trying to upgrade to. On downloads, you might have to find another mac user so that the disk is "bootable" from mac standards. I have had this problem if not using toast when creating a cd for my ma

OK, I think we just don't have enough options here. I'm going to suggest that you pick up another scsi device to work with here. either another cd (one that works) or maybe a syquest drive. This will take at least a few days to round up on ebay or some such, maybe you're lucky and have a local sou
