there is nothin hogging the port.. I checked were is a place were i could find modem drivers? There are a number of reasons...perhaps the correct software isn't loaded, maybe something else is hogging the port (Appletalk might be or Fax software) or the correct modem script isn't there, or

Ones you dial up to with a terminal emulation program don't even use TCP/IP at all. I remember back in the good ol' days of the 80's, connecting to BBSes with my Atari
