There is also a cheap widely available 3COM card for which someone on the list has written a driver! Really? Which card, and where can I find the driver? Thanks, everyone, for your input. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Small Dog Electronics

Sorry, http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/pn650txm.htm specifically states that it won't work w/ the PB1400. Good luck. At 05:25 AM 10/2/2002 -0400, you wrote: Date: Tue, 1 Oct 2002 19:08:59 -0400 Subject: Fast Ethernet and PB 1400 From: Sean McGroty [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-Id: [EMAIL

Fast Ethernet and PB 1400

2002-10-01 Thread Sean McGroty
I'm looking for some sort of Fast Ethernet card for my PB 1400. I've seen the Hawking PC card, the only one I've found with Mac drivers, but the readme states it doesn't work on a 1400. Are there any alternatives, such as a generic driver for another brand of fast ethernet card? --

The way I understand it, all Fast Ethernet (100 megabit) PC cards require a 32bit PC card slot for them to work correctly. The 1400 (and 5300) only have 16bit slots. You are out of luck. The 2400, 3400, G3 and later all have 32bit CardBus capable PCMCIA controllers. Sorry! Drew --

That's not true. There *are* 16-bit 10/100 cards; the question is whether there are any with Mac drivers. Ah, thanks for the correction. Peace, Drew -- Having graduated (with a physics BS :-P), I will be using the email address [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please update your address book.

Will this card work? The Hawking Technology PN650TXM 10/100 Fast Ethernet PC Card for PC/Mac w/RJ-45 Coupler. It says it has driver support all the way back to 7.6.1... It's a Type II PC card, so it's not 32-bit... They don't mention specifically if it works in 1400/5300, but then they
