Greetings. The problem of the long delay after start-up ISN'T related
to the Control Strip after all, though I haven't totally isolated
cause or cure. Trashing Finder and Control Strip prefs, rebuild,
restart, etc. didn't solve the problem. (Again, I've got a 2400c
running MAC OS 8.6.)

Part of the Finder's startup process, before it displays the Desktop,
is that it tries to mount each server. This is done
