In hindsight, I can see that this post made no sense whatsoever (I wrote it at 2:45am if that excuses anything...) Anyway, the problem I was trying to explain was this: I use a Hayes Optima 288 PC Card modem with my PowerBook 3400 (OS 8.6). In the Modem control panel, in the "Connect via" option

Hi all, On of the annoying things about my 3400 is that whenever I boot it without my PC Card modem inserted, the modem control panel automatically sets the modem port to the Infrared port, so I have to reset it the next time I go to use the modem. This happens even though I don't touch the Modem
