Heat definitely has an effect, and you may enjoy periods of time where
it looks good. Another fellow on this list had a similar problem, and
spent a lot of time testing out this and various other hypotheses. In
his case, cooling the thing down didn't really fix the problem (as
evidenced by visible darkening even with the PB powered down). Maybe
you'll get lucky and it'll keep working, but I'd worry about the long
term...
