I have a HPV card in one slot (PDS?) and it works just fine with my monitor. Is the 7100 "terminated" with the HPV card or do I need to drop something else into another slot? I read a recent post that the PDS slot should never be empty, so did I unwittingly do the right thing? >> If the machine came *with a terminator* in the PDS slot, then the machine *must* be operated either: 1) with the terminator installed, or 2) with the HPV card installed, or 3) with a Reply DOS on a Mac card installed, or 3) with a NewerTech G3 card installed, and no other way. The HPV card, the Reply DOS on a Mac card and the NewerTech G3 card implicitly provide the required termination. The 9150s, both the /80 and the /120, came with terminators. I believe the 8100s came with terminators. I believe some 7100s came without terminators (mine certainly did). If the machine originally came *without a terminator* in the PDS slot, then the machine does not require a terminator. These descriptions are obviously "ex-factory" configurations, not as mucked with by some user who probably didn't read the manual before operating his/her machine. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
