Why are you sarcastic about "friend?" Was he/she friend or no? As far as
reformat to no recognition, you probably need a new driver on it before you
assume the worst. But the worst is that these old scsi drives have a
lifespan. I have a stack of 250mg scsi laptop drives that have bad sectors,
corrupted media, what have you. If worse come to worse, try a preformatted,
known good drive and make sure the problem is not a fried memory chip or a
fried "relationship" between the cpu and the ram. Ie sometimes a cpu will
work with some ram, not others, just as some ram refuses boot sequence with
some cpus, and such relational problems can crop up after a major system
overhaul. Any expert care to explain why? Has driven me crazy on these old
machines.

PS...I have a rev. B card cage, 8 meg ram chips, a 540 cpu (66mhz '040) and
a 100mhz PPC upgrade chip for the 500 series. If anyone is interested, try
me off list for prices. The PPC upgrade chip is not cheap, the card cage is
not unreasonable, and the rest are cheap.
