This time it was a 50% off clearance email like mentioned before. The oddest thing is that I have Spamsieve miunging the emails on the host end! I get a "SPAM**..." added int he subject line, and the email is a spamsieve message telling about it with a bit of the first part of the mail but a link to read the full spam. Somehow that little bit from the first part is keeping whatever is hanging PM. Frustrating, but I expect it to stop once this particular batch of spam goes through the net and gets shut down. Death to spammers! -- Michael Lewis ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Tossing ALL the Junk From: "Anthony Sanna" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2008 15:27:49 -0600 Is there a way to delete attachments and html junk when you delete the e- mail? I get html mail from certain people that have header graphics and other cute stuff, and even though I delete the e-mail, the darn gif's accumulate in my Downloads folder. Tony -- Anthony R. You must be thinking of a different filter, since SpamSieve doesn't run on the server and doesn't modify or generate e-mails. -- Michael Tsai <http://c-command.com> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Email Freezes PowerMail From: "Michael Lewis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2008 18:35:07 -0600 Michael Tsai sez: >You must be thinking of a different filter, since SpamSieve doesn't >run on the server and doesn't modify or generate e-mails. Yikes! Yes, you are correct. SpamAssassin is what I'm using hostside to catch much of the mail and modify it before it comes through (I hate even reading or seeing the crap when I'm deleting it; Spam Assassin gives me a report with the spammail as an attachment that I never look at). What it misses, SpamSieve gets perfectly. Sorry for the mixup. There is just so much spam this and spam that, my fingers typed what my mind wasn't thinking. Won't be the last time, I'm sure. :) I just got another of those 50% mails. This could take days... Ugh. -- Michael Lewis Off Balance Productions [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.offbalance.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Tossing ALL the Junk From: "Anthony Sanna" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2008 18:45:02 -0600 >That happens automatically once the message is purged from the Trash >folder, doesn't it? Solution was to see what PowerMail had been able to download before the crash, then to access the account via webmail and delete the next message from there. POPMonitor also could handle them. I think I forwarded it on to CTM but don't know if anything came of it. >Death to spam! Quoted for truth. I suspect that one type of spam message (or attachment?) is somehow freezing PowerMail when it is being received. We probably all got that same spam message. Either way, this can't be good. -Dave ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Email Freezes PowerMail From: "Sean McBride" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2008 23:53:32 -0500 Tom Dillon ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) on 01/02/08 13:09 said: >Occasionally PowerMail "freezes" when retrieving email and has to be >forced quit. Me too! :) Actually, my coworker had this exact problem today. Those spammers seem to have started something new today. :( We need a 5.6.2 soon, these messages may come in every day! Sean ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Email Freezes PowerMail From: "Michael Lewis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sat, 2 Feb 2008 09:06:45 -0600 I had three more of the 50% clearance messages in my mail box this morning. I did a little poking around and have found the main links in them are rerouted to a site called "Canadian Health&Care Mall" and <http://www.qualiferdlog.com>. There is a Spamwiki entry on the site: <http://spamtrackers.eu/wiki/index.php?title=Canadian_Health%26Care_Mall> The spams are cycling through a bunch of throwaway domain names. All of the domain names in the spam I received have already been shut down to client use, but they still point to the site. qualiferdlog.com is hosted in China at an IP address held by KLS-Cafe/ Kulesi Game center. This is all too bad, because I had planned to contact their provider or the provider's connector and complain that their mail was interfering with my business. I love contacting the providers of the advertisers who hire these spam companies and shut down the pay sites, but it looks like in this case the advertiser is the spammer and there may be no provider to threaten/complain to. (Shutting down the pay sites doesn't stop the spam, but it's satisfying to cut off their revenue.) Maybe whoever is cutting internet cables out around Egypt needs to move to China. In the meantime, I hope CTM can fix whatever is causing the hang up in mails like these, or can get Apple to fix the issue if it is at that level. -- Michael Lewis Off Balance Productions [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.offbalance.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Email Freezes PowerMail From: "Murdoch MacPhee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2008 00:33:59 +0900 I'd just like to thank Jim for this, it probably saved me at least 20 minutes this morning.
