TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Five men were arrested in northern part of Jakarta
on Thursday (25/2) in what witnesses suspected as a terror operation. Police
dismissed the suspicion and has not made an official statement over the arrest.

The five men were taken from their rented house near the upscale neighborhood
of Kelapa Gading. Witness said the men were arrested with force by about eight
men causing some injuries on the suspects.

Police also took some of the suspects' belongings collected in two sacks, one
jerry can, one suitcase, and three motorcycles.

Residents informed the identity of one of the arrested men as Jamaludin NR, AKA
Maulana a 31 year-old retail credit salesperson. A relative of the owner of the
rented house Bambang Irwan Ritonga said Jamaludin claimed the four other men
living in the rented house with him as his relatives.

Both Commanders of the Special Detachment 88 at the Jakarta Police and the
national Police Senior Commissioner Angesta Romano Yoyol, and Brigadier General
Tito Karnavian denied the report, after a field intelligence officer from the
Jakarta Military Regional Command at the arrest scene said, the police special
detachment had led the month-long stake out on the five men.

Police however sent its lower commands to inspect the area. The first one is
Head of the Koja Police Precinct Adjutant Commissioner Eko Setio Budi. The
second officer was head of the Kelapa Gading Precinct Police, which according
to the relatives of the house owner told them that the arrest was prompted by a
fraud.

Head of the smallest administrative community in the area Marianus Tuangkoli,
said police also removed a cctv camera.
