*UNESCO Regional Center planned in Iran* Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA Iran-UNESCO's Regional Center UNESCO's second degree Regional Center on Asian and Pacific will be set up in Iran concurrent with the 60th founding anniversary of organization's National Commission in the country. Secretary general of the commission, Mohammad Reza Saeedabadi further said that earlier, two such centers namely, Management of Urban Water and Management of International Qanat Construction were founded in Yazd by the commission. Commenting on the programs of the commission, he further said that it will hold a conference on developments in Iranian universities in cooperation with the universities nationwide from February 18-19. The event will discuss setting up of new courses of study in compliance with social needs. An exhibition featuring Iran's scientific, educational and research achievements over the past 30 years will also be held in cooperation with Ministry of Science, Technology and Research, Saeedabadi said. Organizing seminars on Seyyed Jamaleddin Asadabadi, an Iranian revolutionary figure, and Sheikh Bahaei, an Iranian polymath is also on the agenda. Launching an inter-university job-generation network, holding a summit on art education, commissioning management and planning departments in universities are among other programs of the commission, he noted. UNESCO's National Commission in Iran was set up in 1948. It has seven legal members including ministers of culture and Islamic uidance, science, research and technology, foreign affairs, education and heads of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), nd Department of Environment and the head of the commission.
