"We have so far only sent military officers. Now, we send one police officer in the mission," a military adviser at the Indonesian Permanent Representative in New York, First Admiral IPutu Adnyana, told Antara on Friday. Adj. Sr. Comr. Ari Wijaya will join UNMIS on July 5 and will be there for one year up to July 5 next year, Putu said. Sudan has been facing an armed conflict since 2003. At least 200,000 people have been killed and two millions of people have lost their homes due to the conflict. Putu added Indonesia would send four other Indonesian Police officers to join the same mission. "The four are now in the selection phase. They might join the UN Police and the African Union forces if they pass the test ," he added. There are 10 Indonesian Military officers in the UNMIS. (**)
