For me the best option if you need to keep legacy programs working is to use virtual machines. Just backup with a good backup software the entire XP machine and restore it to a VM, Microsoft VM should be fine, but you have other free options. I use Microsoft VMs on my W7 machines an it's great!

On the PhotoShop front you might get away with Paint.Net, or the mighty Gimp for Windows, for real power. There's also a thing called Gimpshop which makes the Gimp UI like PhotoShop. The others - I doubt it, otherwise everyone would be using them instead of the pricey Adobe ones. On Thu, 10 Mar
