Thanks for the jump...late or not!
I'll check these out when I put some new systems together next week and
let you know the results. Appreciate the input.

Not sure about the GDIPLUS.DLL, but I'm using XFRX to write PDF files for
reports, and I think it likes having
GDIPLUS.DLL around.
You will also need the MSXML 4.0 parser (Vista and Windows 7 come with MSXML
6 and VFP doesn't know how to use it) if you need to use Task Pane.

Sounds like a new definition for infinite loop.
At least there wasn't a power outage...

I don't need anything sophisticated - I just need to
occassionally change the text layers and/or colors of some PSD
and AI files and then export out PNG images of specific sizes.

For me the best option if you need to keep legacy programs working is to use
virtual machines.
Just backup with a good backup software the entire XP machine and restore it to
a VM, Microsoft VM should be fine, but you have other free options.
I use Microsoft VMs on my W7 machines an it's great!

On the PhotoShop front you might get away with Paint.Net, or the mighty
Gimp for Windows, for real power. There's also a thing called Gimpshop
which makes the Gimp UI like PhotoShop.
The others - I doubt it, otherwise everyone would be using them instead
of the pricey Adobe ones.

Yep, and it's cool being able to boot to a text prompt if your system is
seriously hosed and just edit conf files to fix
+1 Gimp is awesome!!!
