That's normal. File size depends on how many blocks the file takes up and

I tried that from the Remote session. The host opens the Shutdown menu but
nothing happens when I click on Shutdown or Standby buttons.

Oh. I can return it. I did it with a WOL program which is part of
pcAnywhere. Unfortunately the WOL program doesn't always pop up when a
remote session is started making it difficult to edit the calling
parameters.

If you are logged into the remote PC, you should have access to all options as
far as shutdown, restart and others are concerned. You can always use the
command line option as well.
