For those of you that to SQL Server DBA stuff, what sort of performance monitoring tools do you use?
Since I'm new at this I'm just using the built in PerfMon tools, saving off timed monitored queries to a spreadsheet, and tweaking the xls for averages, max, min etc. I'm still on SQL Server 2K so my options aren't the same as with the more modern versions. Of the plethora of Objects, Methods, etc etc etc, what variables are you following to gauge performace and health on your servers? My online reasearch ends up with a lot of differing opinions on what is important... Matt Jarvis Programmer/DBA King | Retail Solutions Electronic Privacy Notice.
