Have you tried J32 on your 64 bit machine? That works for Windows.
Yes image 3 is dated but still useful to me as is. But some serious
updates for J8 seem worth some energy soon.

I don't know.
That said, compatibility of i/o mechanisms has been a weakness for J.
(I should at some point do a writeup on opengl issues across currently
downloadable J versions.)

I have recently moved over to a 64 bit machine but were still persisting
with J602 on Linux. I notice that Image3 appears not to function for 64
bit machines.
