I finally packaged up my sprite editor / general-purpose "viewmat-editor"
as an addon:

The main branch covers everything that was in my "building a sprite editor
in J"
video as well as some of the enhancements I did for the "sandpiles!" video
last year.
The 'work' branch has some new stuff (like transparency support,
eraser and eyedropper tools, and the ability to toggle between a
"sprite sheet" and a single cel in the sheet, so you can make
(flipbook-style) animations.
There's also about 7 hours of raw footage of me reviewing the code and
live-coding the new stuff on twitch:

(There will be some edited extracts on youtube at some point,
but it may be a couple weeks before I get to those...)
