Job Title: Network Security Engineer Location: Montpelier, Vermont Duration: 10 months JD: Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the position of Security Network Engineer requires a strong knowledge of the following areas: Firewalls, Network Routers/Switches, Load Balancers, OSI Model, Security monitoring, Web content filtering, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) / Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) systems, Web Application Firewall (WAF), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) and Network Access Control (NAC). Knowledge of leading technologies such as Check Point, Cisco, F5, Windows and Linux based operating systems in a highly virtualized environment is preferred. · Formulates, develops, and implements integrated network architectures for medium-to-large computing environments. · Identifies and understands BCBSVT and departmental business goals, information and system protection goals, objectives and metrics, and implement best information security practices. · Understands current and emerging security threats in order to appropriately design security solutions to mitigate threats where possible. · Technical Architect responsible for delivering technical recommendations to enhance the infrastructure while at the same time maintaining or enhancing security. · Develops standards for computer, security and network systems, to include standards for wiring, equipment, system security, and routing protocol. · Provides logical project management implementation skills in respect to planning, designing, documenting, implementing, testing and support of computer, security and network architecture; coordinates efforts with other stakeholders and external organizations and agencies. · Provides planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding computer and network services for both local and wide area networks, and the worldwide Internet; serves as high-level technical expert in regards to computer, security and network systems and associated issues. · May serve as primary point of contact and liaison with vendors; reviews vendor products, and coordinates and facilitates vendor interviews and presentations. · Demonstrates ability to translate business drivers and priorities into security design. · Designs, develops, and delivers training classes and workshops in areas of computer, security and network systems to other staff. · Installs, configures, and maintains computer, security and network operating system and application software, as appropriate; provides on-call support for computer/network systems as required. · Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. · Provides timely and accurate responses as well as assist in the investigation/analysis of security incidents, legal matters, and escalation management in an on-call operational environment. · Provide support for escalated issues regarding applicable security devices; Ensure SLA compliance for all urgent support tickets and vendor contracts. A bachelor’s degree in computer science field or equivalent is required. 5+ years of network experience including Cisco and/or Check Point equipment. Additionally 5+ years of experience working with network and security concepts, including design and installation.
