Thanks for pointing this out, Bolis.
That has certainly answered some of the questions floating about.

Thanks Thomas,
That did the trick. I right clicked and selected interactive routing on the
menu. Up to that point the tool bar interactive button was working the same
as place line. Now it works fine. Thanks for the tip.

But when the IT department moves you to a new server or different path isn't
it going to cause problems?
If this happened on Protel98 I would have had to edit all my schematics to
change the template path 4 times in the past year. A

Say no more! It's as if Altium (and other big CAD software makers) are
penalizing the people who are utilizing their software. I wouldn't be
surprised if the future issues of Protel will have *cracks* available on the
Internet. I've run into the same situation, you have to upgrade your
software, b
Try using Snagit from www.techsmith.com. It's great for capturing a portion
of your screen display, also you can edit the picture and print it.

On this vein, why doesn't Protel like to use libraries that are residing on
a networked drive?

Hello,
Is there a way to set up Protel 99SE to automatically export specified
files as they are generated? Specifically, I often generate .XNF files
from my schematics then must manually export them to use a 3rd party tool
on them. It would be nice not to have to do this manual export step e
Paint Shop Pro from Jasc also has a good screen/window/object capture. Typically, I
would run my desktop at 2048x1536, then grab what I want. I've found that saving the
grabbed screen in '.png' (Portable Network Graphics) offers the best compression
without any detail loss whatsoever.

Colin et al,
Further to your point, if Altium / Protel or whatever you want to call them
now were smart, they would buy out the 3D export features from Desktop-eda
and incorporate them into the next version.
The 3D viewer that Protel offered with the SE version is what prompted me to

How about these for reasons, its quicker and easier and there's no need to
position the items you want to copy at max magnification on the screen (to
get decent resolution).
Each to their own.

I've never had a problem with this. All my libraries are on our network
server.

I've seen many people mention PDF distiller/PDF writer to get high res
simple output. There is also a free alternative to this (if you don't
mind PostScript). Adobe has put out a free PostScript printer driver at

Copy/Paste *is* a standard Windows procedure.

$5K tops, dude.
TWICE the price of solid-works or Autycad
I don't think so

I have a PCB in which two nets keep changing their net class.
The nets are AC1 and AC2, they should belong to a net class called LV.
However they keep changing to a class called HV (other members of this class
are A, N, C, NO, NC).
They seem to swap whenever I edit a primitive associated with AC
